21st Century Giant-killers

Let's consider the power of inward truth to defeat the giants in our lives. What can we learn from the story of David and Goliath so we can be twenty-first-century giant-killers?

Let me start by showing you why I believe Goliath is a picture of Satan.

Goliath Had the Measure of Satan

First of all, I see something significant about the giant’s measure. His height was six cubits, he had six pieces of armor, and the iron head of his spear weighed 600 shekels (1 Samuel 17:4-7).

The threefold repetition of the number six here is interesting because in the Bible the devil’s Superman is identified by the threefold repetition of this number: 666 (Revelation 13:18). In a sense Goliath was a picture of this coming beast whose power is the working of Satan.
