Comfort for the 2020 World in Need of a Heavenly Father

If we belong to Jesus Christ, we belong with both BODY and SOUL to Him. That means that we belong COMPLETELY to Him.  All belong to Christ.  Not just our soul is His, but also our body. He owns us completely, totally. Paul wrote, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s,” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

The genuine children of God also are His in LIFE and in DEATH. This means that we belong to Him ALWAYS. We don’t belong to Christ just in this life. Even when we die we still belong to Christ.  In every situation, at all times, we belong to our Redeemer.  Nothing can separate us from Him. Paul wrote, “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord,” (Romans 8:38-39).

When we come to belong to Christ, we are brought into a special relationship with the Father. The Bible speaks about our Heavenly Father.  On account of what Christ has done, the Father adopts us again as His children. That means that we are now under the care of our heavenly Father. He will look out for our good. Not a hair can fall from our head without our Father’s will. And even if the coronavirus and all other evil things happen to us, we may be sure that everything that happens to us is working towards our salvation, even if we cannot understand how that is possible. God is much wiser than we are.

How do we come to belong to Christ? Christ bought us. He paid the price of our sins. Not with gold or silver, but with His precious blood. He bought us through His suffering and death. That was the price that had to be paid in order to release us from the bondage to sin and death.  And now that Christ has released us, He continues to watch over us so that we should not come under bondage to sin again. For Satan tries to gain power over us, wanting to enslave us as before. Yet Christ preserves us and will not allow us to come under Satan’s dominion again. He will cause us to persevere and to remain faithful to the end.
