Comfort for Our 2020 World: AcKNOWledge God

How are we to hallow God’s Name?  The Bible shows us that we are to hallow God’s Name in two ways.  First, we hallow God’s Name on account of what God has done.  And secondly, we cause others to hallow God’s Name on account of what we do.

In order to hallow or praise God’s Name for what He has done, we must first come to know God. There are many in the world who admire nature. They take photos and express wonder at its beauty but they do not praise God who made it. There is no exaltation of God’s Name. Why not?  Because they do not rightly know God; they do not acKNOWledge God as Creator. To know God does not merely mean that we know something about God, but it means that we acKNOWledge Him as God. 

If we do not acKNOWledge God as the Creator, we do not praise Him for what He has done in creation. That is why we must first come to know God before we can hallow His Name. In order to come to know God, the Holy Spirit must illumine our minds and renew our hearts. The Holy Spirit must work faith in us before we can begin to praise God for the work that He has done. 

We are to praise God in all His works. What works has God done?  God’s work can be divided into two main categories: creation and re-creation.
