Does the snow ever disappear from the mountaintops...Do the cold streams flowing from those mountains ever run dry?
But my people are not so reliable, for they have deserted Me...they have stumbled off the ancient highways and walk in muddy paths. Jeremiah 18:14-15
As soon as the churches locked down, Christians were left with a spiritual void. Instead of taking advantage of this time as individuals to pause, reflect, and return to the mountaintop for spiritual refreshment, many took the streets to protest against racism and for social justice. Sadly what could have been an opportunity for Christians to quietly seek God - to look to Him to “satisfy us early with Thy mercy,” instead, became prolonged weeks of violent passions and protests.
The spiritual darkness of Black Lives Matter and the Woke church are proving to be failed attempts to fill a spiritual void - to satisfy disillusioned Christians with other lesser things not of God. After months of lockdown, many who have professed to be Christians have forgotten the Source of their life. They still maintain the emotions and passion of a life that had been nourished from the mountain-tops of God, but now it is no longer nourished there.
There needs to be a recognition of where the source of life is and a determination to stay at it. What could have been a national spiritual renewal has become a nationwide backsliding - a wild display of media-driven human stubbornness - a conscious forsaking of the ancient paths.
They have stumbled off the ancient highways and walk in muddy paths. "White Fragility," Critical Race Theory, and being "Woke" have replaced the ways the patriarchs walked in, of time immemorial, a dateless way, and the way of always being in right relationship to God. This hate-filled agenda of political and social activism has caused many to stumble out of that way by making sacrifices to hollow worthless movements.
Once we stop looking at the mountain, all true satisfaction that comes from a right relationship with God vanishes. Remember our life is maintained from the heights only. We as God's children have been placed in the "perfect storm" of world events whose purpose is to pull us out of the muddy paths and redirect us to the ancient ways - ways that lead to the spiritually refreshing streams still flowing from the mountaintops.
