A Jeremiah View of 2020
The only reality that is keeping 2020 together is the Cross of Christ. At the Cross of Christ, sin must die in us. Apart from the Cross of Christ the life of God must die in us and in the world. The chaos we are witnessing around the world is the effect of life apart from God.
No whining and no shirking will ever help us to escape 2020's utter confusion; confusion is at the basis of every human life that has ignored God.
There is only one thing that matters - our soul and God. If once God can get us to stand alone with Him, He can trust us anywhere on earth; but until He gets us there we never can be trusted.
...If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city. Although they say, "As surely as the Lord lives", still they are swearing falsely.
Jeremiah 5:1-2
Let the events of 2020 be a reminder and warning not to glory in man; for the best of men are but the best of men; bank on God alone.
There is nothing in the tragic events of 2020 to terrify the man who knows Jesus Christ; He need not fear what He can do, nor does he need to fear Jesus Himself.
Why should I forgive you? Your children have forsaken Me and sworn by gods that are not gods. When I fed them to the full, they committed adultery...shall I not avenge Myself on a nation such as this?
Jeremiah 5:7-9
The Bible is not so much a revelation about God as a revelation of God who is adequate to deal with the worst.
To be under grace should not mean that we are free to forsake the law of God but rather that we can fulfill the law of God gracefully.
Behold, I am bringing against you a nation from afar...It is an enduring nation; it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you do not know, nor can you understand what they say.
Jeremiah 5:15
The powers of worldly dominion are unconscious of God, but God uses them for His purpose. The perils of the caronavirus pandemic that began in China are clear to God's mind alone, but they mean panic to everyone who does not know the mind of God.
Never take your participation in the perils of providence unintelligently, but get the mind of God.
