Hanging in There
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.”
In the time between birth and death, most of us are in our “shell.” There is something in us which makes us peck, and when the crack comes, instead of its being the gentle light and dawn of a new day, it is like a lightning flash. The universe we awaken to is not one of order, but a great big howling confusion, and it takes time to get adjusted. And, the howling confusion of 2020 has proven this reality as well as the need for patience in adjusting to this unprecedented chaos.
The distresses we reap in the events of 2020, we, together with other human beings, are personally responsible for. If we make our life a muddle, it is to a large extent because we have not discerned the great underlying relationship to God.
The stressful events of 2020 are apt to make us become cynical. A mature mind is never cynical; a mature mind goes right down to the facts of life, and comes to the conclusion that there is no way out. There is no way out of 2020 through reason or intellect; the only way out is on the Bible line - Redemption.
2020 requires not only unshakeable confidence in God, but also a mind for the actual facts of life. It requires us to blink at nothing. For, underneath the facts, the believer holds to the confidence that the basis of a right direction of 2020's chaos is not a man’s reason but his strong faith that God is not unjust; and that the man who hangs in to the honor of God will come out all right.
